The abstracts submission form is now “live” and can be found at http://community.geosociety.org/gsa2014/science/sessions. Please forward this link along to all your potential submitters. The abstracts deadline is 11:59 p.m., Pacific Time, 29 July 2014.

INVITED SPEAKERS:
Each Topical Session can have up to three invited speakers. Here are the committee approved PIN numbers assigned to your session, "T185. Pegmatites I Have Known and Loved." Please give each of your invited speakers ONE PIN number to use. They must put this number on the abstract form in the appropriate spot. Only one pin number per invited speaker, please.

ACCESS TO TOPICAL SESSION:
You are being given early access to your online session so you can keep an eye on who is submitting abstracts to your session. You can access your session at:

http://gsa.confex.com/gsa/2014AM/login.cgi
ID: 34934
Password: 906775

This is a secure access site for you and any co-chairs you may have. Once inside this page, please select "View Submission" to view the abstracts submitted to your session. Although most abstracts probably will be submitted closer to the deadline, you can still use this site to get a first glance regarding how your session may be filling up. It never hurts to keep promoting and advertising your session.

ORAL SESSION DETAILS:
We expect a big turnout for the Annual Meeting in Vancouver. Please remember, an oral topical session still must have at least 12 oral preferred abstracts submitted to it, which is enough for a half-day session. If the abstracts submitted to your session contain both oral and posters, we will assign you both an oral session and a poster session after the abstracts deadline has passed.

If you receive enough abstract submissions for a full second oral session, additional time will be scheduled for you, if there are session rooms available. If your session receives too few submissions, the session will be cancelled, and the abstracts moved to another session for consideration. The more actively you encourage submissions to your topical, the more likely that your session will go forward.

SESSION TIMESLOTS:
For 2014, technical sessions are scheduled 8–noon, and 1–5 p.m. Posters are to be displayed the entire day, with viewing 5–6:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Sunday, the poster viewing is scheduled for 3–5 p.m.

CONCLUSION:
We hope that your topical session comes together well, and that this process is successful for you and your colleagues. If you have any questions about the process, please contact us at any time.
