Dear everyone; It is with deep regret that we inform you of the passing of Professor Hiroshi Takeda, a renowned mineralogist and Honorary Professor of the University of Tokyo, on September 11th. He was 88 years old. Professor Takeda will forever be remembered as a pioneer in the field of solid planetary material science, based on mineralogy and crystallography. His contributions to various subjects in mineralogy and crystallography other than planetary material science were also remarkable.
