Hello High Pressure Community:

In case you aren’t yet following FORCE on LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram where we’ve been posting exciting photos of its progress…Ichiban’s frame plates and cylindrical pumps have been set in place! Ichiban is much larger and more impressive than we could have imagined (see attached photo taken by Dan Shim), and we’re thrilled to reach this milestone in the lab’s construction.

Please join us for our Seminar tomorrow at noon AZ/Pacific with Matt Whitaker where we’ll share a live view of Ichiban and the press hall (Zoom link / abstract and bio).

Kara

Dear Colleagues,

The Gordon Research Conference on "Research at High Pressure" will take
place July 14-19, 2024 at Holderness School, Holderness, NH, US. The
title of this year's conference is: "Exploring Matter Beyond Equilibrium".

The meeting will provide a forum to discuss the latest advances and
discoveries in high pressure research, with emphasis on exploring these
developments both away from equilibrium, and in machine learning and
advanced computation.

We have an excellent scientific program with many outstanding speakers and
discussion leaders. For more details see:

https://www.grc.org/research-at-high-pressure-conference/2024/

Please note that the program includes sessions for short (5 min) poster
presentations, selected from the submitted posters.

The application deadline for this meeting is June 16, 2024. We
strongly encourage you to attend, and apply as soon as possible.

This GRC is also linked to a Gordon Research Seminar (GRS) on July 13-14,
2024 which provides an opportunity for younger scientists to network and
present their work before their early career peers in the field.

The GRS is currently accepting applications for oral presentations until
April 7, 2024 – the abstract deadline. Applications to attend the GRS are
open until June 15, 2024.  For more information on the GRS please see:

https://www.grc.org/research-at-high-pressure-grs-conference/2024/

We have limited funding, and we will reserve it preferentially to support
young scientists (graduate students and younger post-doctoral fellows within
two years of PhD).  To apply, please send as soon as possible a brief
summary (max 1 page) of your poster contribution and your motivation to
attend the meeting together with a short letter of support from your
supervisor to the Chair (email: cjp20@cam.ac.ukmailto:cjp20@cam.ac.uk). Preference
will be given for participants travelling from overseas.

We would like to draw attention to the Carl Storm Underrepresented
Minority Fellowships:

Best wishes,

Chris Pickard (cjp20@cam.ac.ukmailto:cjp20@cam.ac.uk, University of Cambridge, UK); GRC Chair
