Dear colleagues, We cordially invite you to submit an abstract to GSA 2025 Session T39. Geochronology of Critical Mineral Deposits with Special Reference to U-Th-Pb Dating of Common-Pb-Rich Minerals. This topical session is concerned with research that aims to determine the radiometric ages of ore deposits containing critical minerals. Relevant studies involve those that date critical element-carrier minerals themselves (direct dating) or gangue minerals thought to have formed at the same time in the same deposit as critical element-carrier minerals (indirect dating). Studies focused on analytical aspects of radiometric dating or illustrating how geochronology (or ‘petrochronology’, age in conjunction with mineralogy, geochemistry and petrology) can be used as a research tool to understand ore genesis, or the resource potential of a deposit are of interest.
