Dear colleagues,
We cordially invite you to submit an abstract to GSA 2025 Session T39. Geochronology of Critical Mineral Deposits with Special Reference to U-Th-Pb Dating of Common-Pb-Rich Minerals.
This topical session is concerned with research that aims to determine the radiometric ages of ore deposits containing critical minerals.  Relevant studies involve those that date critical element-carrier minerals themselves (direct dating) or gangue minerals thought to have formed at the same time in the same deposit as critical element-carrier minerals (indirect dating).  Studies focused on analytical aspects of radiometric dating or illustrating how geochronology (or ‘petrochronology’, age in conjunction with mineralogy, geochemistry and petrology) can be used as a research tool to understand ore genesis, or the resource potential of a deposit are of interest.
Invited speakers:
·      Dr. Andrea Giuliani | Carnegie Science, Washington DC
·      Dr. Liam Courtney-Davies | University of Colorado Boulder
Session Endorsers:  GSA Geochronology Division; GSA Mineralogy, Geochemistry, Petrology, and Volcanology Division; Society of Economic Geologists; Mineralogical Society of America; Mineralogical Association of Canada; Microanalysis Society
GSA Connects 2025 takes place in San Antonio, Texas, USA, 19-22 October. The abstract submission deadline is 5 August 2025.

We hope to see you in San Antonio!
