Dear colleagues,
We are currently seeking to fill two exciting research positions at the Geosciences Centre, University of Göttingen, and would greatly appreciate if you could share this information within your networks or with suitable candidates. If wished, we are happy to meet with interested candidates at the upcoming EGU25 meeting in Vienna!

  1. Research Associate (100%, TV-L E13) – Experimental Mineralogy & Petrology
Start date: As soon as possible | Duration: 3 years
This position is ideal for a junior scientist interested in building an independent research and teaching profile. The successful candidate will carry out high-pressure, high-temperature experiments using a range of state-of-the-art apparatus (e.g., CSPV, IHPV, piston cylinders) and contribute to teaching in petrology and microscopy. A PhD in geosciences is required, preferably in experimental petrology, mineralogy, or geochemistry.
More info and application portal: http://obp.uni-goettingen.de/de-de/OBF/Index/74855
    Application deadline: May 5, 2025
    Contact: Thomas Müller (thomas.mueller@geo.uni-goettingen.demailto:thomas.mueller@geo.uni-goettingen.de)

  2. Research Assistant (75%, TV-L E13) – Metamorphic Petrology
Start date: As soon as possible | Duration: 2 years with possible 1-year extension
This project-based position focuses on the mobilization of REE, Th, and U during crustal melting, integrating analytical and experimental techniques (e.g., EPMA, LA-ICP-MS, Raman, piston-cylinder). Applicants with an excellent Master’s degree or a PhD in petrology, geochemistry, or related fields are welcome.
