This year, participants are invited to convene in the charming colonial city on Madagascar’s highlands, world-famous for its classic localities producing outstanding tourmaline specimens, gemstones and a wide array of associated and rare minerals. The Conference will include three days of scientific sessions; visits to local mineral and gem markets, artisanal gem-cutting factories; two days of field visits to tourmaline mines in the lower and upper Sahatany valley. For a limited number of participants, an additional excursion to the legendary locality of Anjanabonoina is organised as a post-conference field trip.
