POSTDOCTORAL POSITION ADVERTISEMENT:
A postdoctoral position is available in the broad area of large igneous provinces and continental rifting. The position is supported by a NSF-ANT grant awarded to Prof. Jill VanTongeren to study the emplacement and crystallization history of the Dufek Intrusion - a large layered mafic intrusion that formed as part of the Ferrar large igneous province of Antarctica during the rifting of Gondwana at approximately 182 Ma.
Ideal candidates will have successfully obtained their PhD in either igneous petrology, geochronology, or tectonics, and be interested in a combination of sample-based lab work as well as computational modeling. The postdoc is grant-supported for 18 months, with the possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance. The anticipated start date is Spring 2022.
