We would like to remind you that the abstract submission deadline for the "Early Career Investigators in Mineralogy and Crystallography" session at GSA Connects 2026 in Denver, Colorado, is this Thursday, August 6. Our session provides a forum for early-career faculty, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate students to showcase innovative research and exchange new ideas in mineralogy and crystallography. We welcome contributions spanning experimental, analytical, computational, and theoretical studies. Although the session focuses on mineralogy and crystallography, these disciplines underpin nearly every area of the geosciences. Mineral structures, compositions, and properties are central to research in petrology, geochemistry, sedimentology, environmental geology, planetary science, economic geology, materials science, and many other fields. We therefore encourage submissions from researchers whose work involves minerals, crystals, or their properties, even if they do not primarily identify their research as mineralogy or crystallography. We also welcome presentations related to professional development, mentoring, education, and fostering equitable career advancement within the mineral sciences.
