Dear colleagues:
The Environmental Mineralogy and Geochemistry Group in the Kent State University Department of Earth Sciences is seeking MS and/or PhD students to work on a project related to evaluating the hydrogeochemical controls on Rare Earth Element and Yttrium mobility during rock weathering. The projects will focus on areas within Appalachian coal fields and will include field work and characterization of natural samples, laboratory-based weathering experiments, and participation in outreach activities with High School teachers and students. Perspective students should have some analytical mineralogy background (electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction) and will hold a BS or MS degree in Earth Sciences or a closely related field. Information about our graduate program, including application details is available here: https://www.kent.edu/earth-sciences/graduate-programs. Perspective students can contact Prof. David Singer (dsinger4_at_kent_dot_edu). Thank you!
