Dear MSA Talk list,

This email came from the Editors of AJS - it seemed sufficiently important to this community to pass it along. Please make sure to submit your papers to the proper site!

Hope all of you are off to an excellent 2025 start.

Dear Editors and past and present Associate Editors,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you of a critical issue concerning the American Journal of Science (AJS). We have recently identified a fraudulent website, https://ajsonline-us.orghttps://ajsonline-us.org/, that is impersonating our official journal. This counterfeit site closely mimics the design and content of our legitimate website, https://ajsonline.orghttps://ajsonline.org/, and is engaging in deceptive practices, including:

  • Phishing Attempts: The fraudulent site solicits manuscript submissions and charges illegitimate publication fees, misleading potential authors.
  • Copyright Infringement: It replicates AJS's proprietary content, design elements, and branding without authorization.

Actions Taken:

  • We have reported this issue to the web hosting service of the counterfeit website, requesting its removal.
  • A takedown report has been filed with the domain registry.
  • The matter has been escalated to Yale University's Office of the General Counsel for further legal action.

Recommended Precautions:

  • Alert Potential Authors: Please inform your networks and any potential contributors about this fraudulent website to prevent them from falling victim to these deceptive practices.
  • Verify Submission Channels: Ensure that all manuscript submissions and communications are conducted through our official website and email addresses.
  • Report Suspicious Activity: If you encounter any suspicious communications or activities related to this issue, please report them to us immediately.

We are actively working to resolve this matter and will keep you updated on any significant developments. Your vigilance and cooperation are crucial in safeguarding the integrity and reputation of the American Journal of Science.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue.

Best regards,

Tomoko Korenaga (she/her/hers)
