Dear Colleagues:

The abstract deadline for IMA 2026 has been extended to May 5, 2026.

So you have time to submit your contributions!

I bring to your attention the session on "The Mineralogy of Critical Minerals".

We welcome contributions that describe the physical, crystallographic and thermodynamic processes that lead to the formation of minerals that host critical minerals (elements), as well as processes required to extract and refine critical minerals. Topics of interest, but not limited to, include partitioning of various elements between melts, fluids and minerals; crystallographic constraints on elemental substitution in minerals; the various chemical and physical conditions and processes that control critical  mineral chemistry, and modern analytical techniques applied to critical minerals characterization.

Our keynote speakers are Wang Rucheng (Nanjing University) and Bob Hazen (Carnegie Science).

The link to the program and abstract submission site can be found here:

We look forward to seeing you in Nanjing!

Sincerely,

Bob Bodnar, Virginia Tech

Pei Ni, Nanjing University
