Collecting and studying rocks has been a passion since he was a kid and it just never let him go. Andy received his Ph.D. from the Swiss Technical Institute (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland, for his work on the geochemistry and mineralogy of Mesozoic ophiolites<https://www.researchgate.net/publication/230814811_Mesozoic_ophiolite_relics_in_the_Southern_Steep_Belt_of_the_Central_Alps> in a section of the Swiss and Italian Alps. Before, as well as during, his studies and Ph.D., he was working for Siber+Siber Ltd., Switzerland’s biggest mineral and gem dealer. For 13 years now, he is general manager and co-owner of the company. In that time, Andy has constantly expanded the share of Swiss minerals in the company’s inventory, making its selection one of the largest in Europe. Andy has also been a regular visitor to the major U.S. mineral shows during the last 29 years, so many of you may be familiar with him and/or the Alpine showcases he always presents in Tucson. A passionate mountain climber he has visited most of the specimen producing regions of Switzerland, no matter how remote and rugged their nature. Thankfully, this is something the current Covid-related situation has no negative effect on.
