Hello all,
The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher or short-term federal employee in the field of planetary science. The Nanoscale Materials team at NRL uses state-of-the-art electron microscopy instrumentation to investigate meteorites, lunar samples, and other extraterrestrial samples to understand their histories and the origin(s) of fine-grained mineral and organic phases within. The postdoctoral researcher will carry out independent research within the current NASA-supported research topics at NRL using aberration-corrected scanning-transmission electron microscopy.
Applicants for this position will be required to have:
- Ph.D. in Planetary Science, Earth Science, or related discipline
- Experience in the operation of a transmission electron microscope as part of a graduate level research project
- United States citizenship or permanent resident status
The position will be filled for three years, with a possibility for extension depending on future funding levels. NRL uses a variety of programs to hire postdoctoral-level researchers, the exact nature of which will be determined by the candidate's experience level and availability. To inquire about this position, please send a CV with your request to Dr. Bradley De Gregorio (bradley.degregorio@nrl.navy.milmailto:bradley.degregorio@nrl.navy.mil).
