Dear Colleagues,
We enthusiastically invite you to submit an abstract to our AGU 25 session,
entitled:
V007: Crystal Records of Magmatic Processes
Crystals in igneous rocks represent detailed archives of magmatic system
evolution, preserving information on composition, temperature, pressure,
oxygen fugacity, volatile content and key processes such as fractional
crystallization, magma mixing, and assimilation. These records span
magmatic environments from the upper mantle to the crust, offering insights
into the conditions and timescales of magma generation, storage, and
transport. This session brings together researchers studying magmatic
crystals in mafic to felsic rocks across diverse tectonic settings to
explore questions related to magma sources, evolution, storage dynamics,
and process timescales. We welcome contributions that employ a range of
established and emerging techniques, including (but not limited to)
textural analysis, microbeam methods, experimental approaches, X-ray
micro-computed tomography, thermodynamic and numerical modeling, machine
learning, big data analysis, and diffusion chronometry.
The deadline for all submissions is Wednesday, 30 July 2025 at 23:59
EDT/03:59 UTC.
All the best and hoping to seeing you in New Orleans,
The conveners:
Oliver Higgins, University of St. Andrews
Weiran Li, University of Hong Kong
