Final call for GSA-SC20 abstracts: T2. Recent Progress in Granites, Rhyolites, and Associated Magmatism

Dear Igneous Geoscientists,

The abstract deadline for the next GSA South-Central Section's Annual Meeting is fast approaching.
The meeting will be held in Fort Worth, TX, on March 9-10, 2020. The abstract deadline is December 3, 2019. My colleagues and I wish to call your attention to a session focused on felsic and associated systems. Invited presenters are Richard Hanson (TCU) and Rita Economos (SMU).

T2. Recent Progress in Granites, Rhyolites, and Associated Magmatism
Matt Hamilton; R. Douglas Elmore; Jonathan D. Price; Gary S. Michelfelder; and Melanie A. Barnes.
Description: This session welcomes studies of felsic magmatism and associated systems, including the generation and emplacement of igneous bodies, development of the igneous system, subsequent sedimentation and deformation, and relevance to problems in modern and ancient tectonics.
Also of note: the convention has a pre-meeting field trip to an igneous setting.

Description: This field trip will visit the Wichita Mountains, a region that exposes the plutonic and volcanic products of the Eocambrian Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen. The field sites will highlight new findings on chemical, temporal, and structural attributes of the mafic and felsic rocks. Predominantly roadside stops with some light hiking. Depart Ft. Worth Saturday, 7 March, afternoon field stops in the central Wichitas, overnight lodging in Lawton, Oklahoma, depart for eastern Wichitas, 8 March, morning to early afternoon field stops, return to Ft. Worth for evening reception. Lunch in the field both days.
