Dear All,

In anticipation of another great EGU General Assembly (May 3-8), we
would like to draw your attention to the following co-organized session:

The metamorphic rock record: pieces of the lithospheric puzzle
[GMPV7.1/GD4/TS2]

A description is provided below and can be found here:
https://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2020/session/35252
Abstract submission is open until Wednesday Jan. 15th, 13:00 CET.
Looking forward to seeing you in Vienna!

Best wishes,

Matthijs, Daniela, Tom & Lucie

The metamorphic rock record: pieces of the lithospheric puzzle
GMPV7.1; Co-organized by GD4/TS2
Conveners: Matthijs Smit, Daniela Rubatto, Tom Raimondo, Lucie
Tajcmanova
Invited speakers: Sarah Incel (University of Oslo), Richard Palin
(University of Oxford)

From the Archean to the present, the dynamic evolution of the

lithosphere is preserved in the metamorphic rock record. Each piece of
evidence on mineral reactions, deformation and fluid-rock interaction
helps to reconstruct the puzzle of lithospheric tectonics in all its
complexity. Analytical and conceptual innovations in petrology,
geochemistry, chronology, structural analysis and
thermodynamic/thermomechanical modelling continue to improve our ability
to read the metamorphic rock record and open new avenues for future
development.
This session will highlight research in integrated metamorphic petrology
and its application to solid earth behaviour in orogens, subduction
zones and cratons throughout geological time. We welcome contributions
across the breadth of this field—from petrology, (petro-)chronology,
trace-element and isotope geochemistry to microstructures, modelling and
geodynamics—with a focus on metamorphic and metasomatic processes that
shape the lithosphere across a range of scales.

Dear colleagues:

We wish to bring your attention to the following session at the upcoming Goldschmidt Conference in Hawaii, USA, June 21-26, 2020:

11a: Microbial Influences on Formation, Weathering, and Transportation of Minerals and Metals

Session conveners: Prof. Xiancai Lu, Dr. Zhen Li

We would like to invite you to submit an abstract to this session. As you can see from the description below, we hope that the session would bring together scientists in the field of microbial-mineral-metal interactions:

This symposium aims to communicate the newest & diversified findings to advance our interdisciplinary understanding of microbial influences on formation, weathering, and transportation of minerals and metals.  The microorganisms in this topic will include bacteria, fungi, althea, algae, and virus. The topics that will be covered in this session are, but not limited to: 1) Microorganism-induced biomineralization, weathering, and dissolution of phosphates, carbonates, sulfates, etc.; 2) Regulation of elemental geochemistry of metals, carbon, nitrogen, phosphorous, sulfur, etc. by microorganisms; 3) Field study and reactive transport modeling of microbial regulation on formation, weathering, and transportation of minerals and metals; and 4) Application of microorganisms and earth materials in environmental remediation, soil management, and economic geology.

Best regards,
Zhen Li
