Dear Colleagues,

The Kuiper-Arizona Laboratory For Astromaterials Analysis (K-ALFAAhttps://kalfaa.lpl.arizona.edu/) at the University of Arizona has an opening for a research scientist to manage our focused-ion-beam scanning-electron microscope (FIB-SEM) and Raman laboratories. The successful candidate will be expected to manage day-to-day operations of a ThermoFisher Scientific Helios G3 FIB-SEM and a Renishaw InVia Raman spectrometer with duties including, but not limited to, e.g., operating and maintaining the instruments, train users, troubleshoot and perform or coordinate instrument repair and service, etc.

The position announcement, including duties and responsibilities, preferred qualifications, and how to apply can be found herehttps://arizona.csod.com/ux/ats/careersite/4/home/requisition/25199?c=arizona.

K-ALFAA is an analytical facility supported by NASA’s Planetary Major Enabling Facilities program, the Office of Research and Partnerships, the College of Science, and the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory at the University of Arizona. Founded in 2016 and motivated by the need for correlative and spatially resolved microscopy, K-ALFAA is dedicated to research excellence in analysis of heterogeneous materials from the centimeter to atomic scale. In addition to the FIB and Raman, K-ALFAA laboratories include EPMAs, SEMs, an aberration-corrected S/TEM, and a new NanoSIMS. The University of Arizona is a Hispanic Serving Institution that has been listed by Forbes as one of America’s Best Employers in the United States and WorldatWork. Review of applications is ongoing and will continue until the position is filled. Letters of reference will be requested from top-ranked applicants only.

Questions on the position can be directed to me (tzega@arizona.edumailto:tzega@arizona.edu). Please forward this announcement to anyone you think might be interested.

Thank you.
