Hi Everyone,
The 2026 annual meeting of the Clay Minerals Society will be held in Provo, Utah on July 7-11, 2026. The website for the meeting (under construction, but lots of info available) can reached by clicking this link. If you would like to propose a session for the meeting, please e-mail a title and < 200-word decsription to barry_bickmore@byu.edu and jmcintosh@usgs.gov by December 15.
We are planning a workshop on halloysite clays, as well as a field trip to some local halloysite deposits and the facilities at Ionic Mineral Technologies. (They mine halloysite and turn it into Si nanotubes for use in Li-ion battery anodes. Using nano-Si can dramatically increase storage and decrease charging time.) If you would like to make a vacation out it, we are planning some activities for accompanying persons and Provo is within driving distance of several national and state parks.
Thanks!
