Deadline extended: 2027 Bastin PhD Thesis Award

The deadline for the 2027 Bastin PhD Thesis Award of the European Microbeam Analysis Society (EMAS) has been EXTENDED!

Did your PhD thesis involve a lot of novel approaches and developments in microbeam analysis and related techniques? Then this award might be for you! Completed applications must reach the EMAS Secretary by Wednesday September 30th, 2026 (23:59, CEST). Full details of the award and the process are available on the EMAS website at:

The winning applicant will receive three years complimentary EMAS regular membership and a € 2,500 cash prize. Moreover, the Bastin Fund will cover all reasonable travel and hotel costs, and workshop registration of the award winner, up to an amount of about € 1,000, for attending the next EMAS European Workshop where he/she should give a presentation in the Early Career Scientists’ Session.

The winner will be presented at the next EMAS European Workshop in Lausanne (Switzerland), June 6-10, 2027.
