Dear colleagues,
Apologies for any cross-posting.
We are looking for two motivated and enthusiastic students to undertake fully funded 4-year PhD projects in igneous petrology and geochemistry at Trinity College Dublin, starting in September 2022 (or earlier by negotiation). The projects form part of the Frontiers for the Future project Developing a process-based understanding of platinum group element mineralisation: a natural laboratory in Ireland (Critical-Ireland) and have the same supervisory team.
Details are as follows:
Project #1: The dynamics of country rock assimilation and PGE mineralisation in layered mafic intrusions.
Project #2: Conduit controls on magma evolution in dykes and sills: implications for PGE mineralisation.
Supervisors: Dr Mike Stock (Trinity College Dublin), Prof. Marian Holness (University of Cambridge), Prof. Jens Andersen (Camborne School of Mines), Prof. David Chew (Trinity College Dublin).
Funding: Frontiers for the Future Project, co-funded by Science Foundation Ireland and Geological Survey Ireland - fully funded (including fees and stipend); EU, EEA, Swiss and UK applicants only.
Application procedure: Applicants should send a CV, personal statement (maximum 2 A4 pages) and the contact details of two referees to STOCKM@tcd.ie.
Closing date: Applications should be received no later than midnight (Dublin/London time) on 9 January 2022. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview (via Zoom) in February.
Further details: Further details can be found at:
Potential applicants should contact me directly at STOCKM@tcd.ie with any questions.
Thanks so much,
Mike
