I have 2 PhD scholarships available at Curtin University (Perth, Western Australia), with opportunities for industry collaboration and research translation:

1 -  “Unlocking the chemical details of carbon dioxide geosequestration” - with top-up scholarship from CSIRO ($10k AUD per year plus 5k AUD total for travel, additional  to the PhD scholarship offered by Curtin - $35k AUD per year) and in collaboration with Dr. Yuan Mei (CSIRO) and Prof Julian Gale (Curtin Uni)

2 - "Unravelling the chemistry of the glycine leaching technologies for sustainable metal extraction" - with top-up scholarship from Draslovka Mining Innovation Centre ($10k AUD per year plus 5k AUD total for travel, additional  to the PhD scholarship offered by Curtin - $35k AUD per year) and in collaboration with Dr. Luc Le Blanc (Draslovka) and Prof Paolo Raiteri (Curtin Uni).

The students will have a unique opportunity to work closely with the Computational Materials Chemistry group at Curtin University and the multi-disciplinary teams at CSIRO and Draslovka. They will gain transferable skill sets (including supercomputing, data science, molecular and chemical/geochemical modelling), knowledge of mineral carbonation/hydrometallurgy, experiences in applying modelling tools in natural and industrial problems, which will help building long-term career capability in chemical and geochemical research. The collaboration across Curtin University and CSIRO/Draslovka will help the student to grow as an effective and independent researcher.

Applications close 18 August.

🌈 Our group highly values equity and inclusion. We are flexible to design the best environment for each group member to be successful in what they do, based on the diversity of their needs. 🌈
