Dear colleagues,
(Apologies for cross-postings)

We would like to call your attention to our session V014—"The Metamorphic Kitchen Sink” running during this AGU annual meeting (Chicago, Dec. 12-16). Please consider submitting an abstract by the August 3th 2022 deadline using this link https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm22/prelim.cgi/Session/162769.

Invited Speakers:
Clem Hamelin (University of Minnesota-Twin Cities)
Jesús Muñoz-Montecinos (ETH-Zurich)

Session description: The tools of modern metamorphic petrology have broadened considerably with developments in analytical geochemistry and computing. We commonly apply multiple investigative tools to a single rock in order to unravel its metamorphic history. In this session we invite you to share how you have thrown the “metamorphic kitchen sink” at outstanding questions in metamorphism. We are particularly interested in submissions that apply combinations of field observation, petrography, experimental petrology, geochronology, major-, trace-element, and isotope geochemistry, and petrologic modeling. We hope to bring the metamorphic community together to tie microns to mountains and space to time. We also welcome submissions for discussion topics and potential panel discussions, particularly those that might lead to the submission of proposals for broader-scale community collaboration to tackle the next generation of critical questions in metamorphism.

We hope to see you all in Chicago,

Cici Cruz-Uribe (University of Maine)
Chloe Bonamici (University of Wisconsin-Madison)
Suzanne Mulligan (University of Nevada-Las Vegas, University of Wisconsin-Madison)
David Hernández-Uribe (University of Michigan, University of Illinois-Chicago)

Thanks,
David
