In 2026, the Mineralogical Society of the UK and Ireland will celebrate its 150th anniversary, a huge milestone. To celebrate, we plan to hold a special celebratory conference at the University of Manchester.

Mineralogical Society at 150:Past Discoveries and Future Frontiers

This conference will celebrate the history of the Mineralogical Society and also explore the leading-edge mineral science across the whole earth system, and the applied science that  supports  key scientific and societal challenges of the 21st century and beyond.

This event is being organized by Society President, Prof. Sam Shaw, and involves input by all of the Society's eight special interest groups. Details of this event, which will take place from 23-25 June 2026, can be found at https://minsoc-150.org. Also at that site is a page devoted to promotion and here you will find a flier and a powerpoint slide. The Society would appreciate your help in promoting our event as widely as possible.

Scientists from all countries are welcome. Note that this will be a fully hybrid conference. Remote attendance by those from low- and middle-income countries will be free of charge. For those attending in person, there will be a special sesquicentennial banquet at Whitworth Hall.

In the coming weeks the registration and abstract submission will be opened, in the meantime please save the date and feel free to spread the word.
We look forward to welcoming you warmly to Manchester, UK - a vibrant city with excellent travel links - to join us in our celebrations, learn about the new development in mineral science and to help us make this an inclusive, friendly, and successful scientific meeting.
