Dear Colleagues
We would like to invite you to submit an abstract to AGU25 session “V006 - Critical Insights on the Secular Evolution of Earth’s Mantle and Crusthttps://agu.confex.com/agu/agu25/prelim.cgi/Session/251664”.
Session Description:
The Earth is a collection of large-scale, interacting systems that have undergone dramatic changes since the planet formed. Understanding the secular evolution of these systems has been one of the most effective ways of defining the major processes occurring within them and the interactions between them. This session examines important critical insights that have been made on the secular evolution of Earth's mantle and crust and looks forward to new critical insights needed to make further progress. Example topics are the extent to which deep mantle plumes have modified the composition of the continental lithosphere through time; whether wet or dry magmas formed Archean anorthosite-bearing layered intrusions; why late Archean (2.7 Ga) greenstone volcanism was apparently such a massive, widespread event; and the tectonic setting of alkaline (A-type), ferroan, potassic granite and massif-type anorthosite during the Middle Proterozoic. Any similar topics relevant to volcanology, geochemistry and petrology are welcome.
Submission Deadline: Wednesday, July 30th, 2025 @ 11:59 pm EDT
