This year, the Focused Interest Group on MicroAnalytical Standards (FIGMAS) will be sponsoring a Symposium at the Microscopy and Microanalysis <https://www.microscopy.org/MandM/2023/> meeting in Minneapolis (July 23-27, 2023): A03 "Standards and Reference Materials and their Applications in Quantitative Microanalysis". A full description of the Symposium is given below, and we encourage you to submit an abstract to this session. We welcome submissions on any and all aspects of natural and synthetic standard/reference material creation, application, use, availability and concerns. The abstract deadline is February 16th, 2023, and instructions for submission can be found on the website. Any questions, just let me know! Emma FIGMAS Leader A03 Session description: Obtaining accurate compositional data by X-ray microanalysis requires the use of well-characterized standards and reference materials. These materials must therefore be compositionally homogeneous, stable, and readily available to the community. In this Symposium, we will discuss the applications and use of standards and reference materials, as well as the development, evaluation, maintenance, and distribution of potential new candidate materials.
