Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to consider submitting an abstract to GSA Connects 2025 to the session:
T130: How are plutons made? Physical and Chemical Records of Pluton Construction and Evolution

Invited Speaker: Juliet Ryan-Davis, MIT
Abstract deadline: 5th August 2025

New analytical techniques have revolutionized our understanding of the rates and durations of pluton construction and implications for magma chamber evolution. However, a gap remains in our understanding of the conjugate nature of pluton-host rock systems, and their effects on the physical and chemical records within plutons. This session aims to explore the following questions: What are the structural, metamorphic, and geochemical consequences of magma emplacement on the host rocks (igneous or metamorphic)? How do magma emplacement and magma processes interact to create the final compositional diversity observed in plutons at map to mineral scales?

Session Sponsors: GSA MGPV Division, GSA Structural Geology and Tectonics Division, Geochemical Society.

We hope to see you in San Antonio, Oct 19-22!
