Calcite deposit near Harding mine pegmatite, NM

A long shot here, but does anyone have information on the mining of the pegmatite in WWII for strategic minerals, the role of Arthur Montgomery, and especially the pre-war mining of the Iceberg lode of optical calcite, located nearby?  This information would supplement a book project.  I have a few articles but wonder if anyone has access to unpublished, archival material on these subjects?

Thanks,

The New Mexico Archives at UNM has a collection of maps, photos, and reports. They have an online presence at:

https://nmarchives.unm.edu/repositories/22/archival_objects/340982

but most of the contents are not available in digital format (there is one photo of Gilbert Greigo). I found enough there to keep me busy for most of a day. It was certainly worth my time to travel there to review it.

We have several of the calcites mined from the "Iceberg Pit" at the Harding
Mine, collected from the occurrence over 30 years ago. There was an
excellent article about the Harding Mine, its early history, and Arthur
Montgomery's later involvement there in Matrix magazine, published in 2000.
If you have not seen it yet, it is readily available from several dealers
(we ask 8.00 + postage and have several on hand).

Good Luck!

Hello All
I have several specimens that I collected at the Harding mine and the Iceberg claim in 1964 and again 1965 (and many times later).  The MinRecord Eureka special issue May-June 2022 has a photo of us at the Harding Mine in 1965.  In 1964 in digging under a Pinion pine at the face site wall I recovered a specimens, one about 2 by 6 by 25cm.  Absolutely clear, which I still have.  I still have a provisional letter from Dr. Montgomery to collect at the site in 1969 but to stay out of the underground parts of the Harding mine.
