Dear Meteoritical Society Members:

As you know, we have had to cancel our annual society meeting (that had
originally been scheduled for Glasgow later this summer) owing to the
current circumstances relating to COVID-19. Given that the Geochemical
Society will be holding its meeting virtually (i.e., the Goldschmidt
Conference to be held June 21-26, 2020), and there are sessions that will
be of interest to our members (

the Meteoritical Society Council has decided to support and encourage
participation of our early career members at this meeting. As such, we
invite applications from early career researchers (undergraduate or
graduate students enrolled at any college or university, or other
researchers within 5 years of their PhD) who are interested in attending
the virtual Goldschmidt Conference this year. These early career
researchers should either currently be members of the Meteoritical Society
or be supervised by Society members. For those applicants who are selected,
we will pay for Meteoritical Society membership with electronic
subscription to our Society journal, Meteoritics and Planetary Science, for
2021 (benefits can be found here:

Please note that while preference may be given to those who will be
presenting at the Goldschmidt conference, and members from countries
with a low-income
economy https://datahelpdesk.worldbank.org/knowledgebase/articles/906519,
neither is a requirement.

If interested in availing of the opportunity to have a full Meteoritical
Society membership paid for the next year, please submit the following
information to treiman@lpi.usra.edu metsocsec@gmail.com in a single email:

  1. Your full name and institutional affiliation, as well as date of

Society member, or if you are a student, whether your faculty advisor is a
Meteoritical Society member (if the latter, please provide their full name).
  2. If you are currently a student, please attach proof of status as a

  4. Proof of your registration for the virtual Goldschmidt conference
this year (please append PDF file of receipt).
