Experimental Petrology Post-doc. University of Minnesota

Applications are solicited for a post-doctoral fellow in experimental
petrology in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the
University of Minnesota.  The position is for an NSF-funded project on
redox equilibria from below the peridotite solidus to the conditions of
basalt generation, including experimental studies of ferric and ferrous
iron partitioning between minerals and melt and analyses via XANES and
other methods.  The ideal candidate will have experience with high pressure
large volume experimental techniques (chiefly piston cylinder, possibly
multianvil), microbeam analysis, and have a good grasp of phase equilibria
and geochemical thermodynamics.  Availability in the first half of 2022 is
a plus.  The appointment is initially for one year with the expectation of
a second-year renewal.  A Ph.D. at the time of appointment is required.

Applications should include a CV, a brief description of research
experience, and the names and contact info of two knowledgeable referees.
Formal applications should be uploaded via the University of Minnesota’s
“Find a Job” site
