Dear Colleagues, The Department of Geological Sciences at New Mexico State University is currently recruiting for M.S. students beginning in Spring 2026 and Fall 2026. We are seeking graduate students who could work on projects related to mineralogy, geochemistry, volcanology, paleobotany, stratigraphy, tectonics, geochronology, and rock magnetism. With world-class geology right outside campus, we focus on field-based and lab-based teaching and research. The department offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in geology and consists of six faculty members active in a wide range of research topics. We host extensive analytical equipment, clean lab, rock magnetism lab, rock preparation, and mineral separation facilities.
