DI006 - Exploring interiors of super-Earths and other exoplanets with observations, experiments, and simulations
Submit an Abstract to this Session https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://agu.confex.com/agu/agu24/di/papers/index.cgi?sessionid=228396__;!!G_uCfscf7eWS!a1Li3lNM_7VSDeHjt_YOkBzIUyOx4GM-DxbRgQndUc2N2DDn6I6F7TJ5uT_mVAAEGAaXpRPoiW7Xb6o-TGqZYQh79e9fWOAfys1T$
The discovery of thousands of extrasolar planets around other stars in the galaxy provides new opportunities to explore planetary interiors beyond the compositional constraints based on our solar system. It also challenges us to expand experimental measurements and theoretical simulations to extreme conditions. Significant advances in static and dynamic compression methods and predictive power by first-principles simulations and machine learning have been made, which can play a critical role in understanding the internal structures and processes of super-Earths and other exoplanets. This session welcomes contributions from researchers spanning experiment and theory that address the properties of planetary materials under extreme conditions and the application of these results to build next-generation models of the formation, interior structure, dynamics, and thermal evolution of super-Earths and other exoplanets.
