PhD opportunity at the University of Miami, Florida

Dear All,

I am recruiting a Ph.D. student to join my research group at the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science, University of Miami, Florida, starting in the Fall of 2024. The PhD student will join the MO.S.A.I.C. research group (Metamorphism, Structure, and Isotope Chronology) and contribute to the study of exhumed subduction complexes with research opportunities in studying slow slip earthquakes and underplating mechanisms through the application of petrochronology, metamorphic petrology, and structural geology. This is a fully funded 5-year opportunity, and the application deadline is January 4th, 2024.

Qualifications:

Preferred:

  • Attention to detail and experience in laboratory techniques (e.g., Laser Ablation ICPMS, SEM, microprobe) is desired but not required.
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork in Greece and/or California
  • Experience (or demonstrated potential) for promoting DEI in the geosciences.
