Dear Colleagues,

I'd like to bring to your attention this Visiting Lecturer Position opening
up at Wellesley College. The position is for two years with the possibility
of renewal, and the lecturer will have a joint appointment in the
Environmental Studies and Geosciences Departments. Please share this
opportunity with anyone in your network that might be interested (including
ABD students!). Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any
questions!

The Environmental Studies and Geosciences Departments at Wellesley College
invite applications for a two-year position as a Visiting Lecturer to begin
Fall 2021 (with the possibility of renewal). The person in this position
will be expected to teach gateway introductory courses for the
Environmental Studies and Geosciences Departments with content areas
focusing on environmental science, climate, and physical geosciences and
some upper-level courses.

Interdisciplinary training in earth and environmental sciences, prior
teaching experience, and mentoring undergraduate research are all valued.
The person hired will be jointly appointed in the Environmental Studies and
the Geosciences Departments, with opportunities to be actively engaged in
these overlapping communities. The candidate will have access to conference
travel funding and internal funding to support their own research and
engage student researchers. Successful applicants will have a PhD in a
field related to environmental science and/or geosciences (although
applicants who are ABD at the time of application will be considered).

This is an exciting time to be joining the ES and GEOS departments at
Wellesley. In spring 2022, Wellesley College is opening a newly renovated
science center, which will include state-of-the-art laboratories,
innovative teaching spaces, and the new Frost Center for the Environment,
an interdisciplinary hub focused on creating an inclusive and dynamic space
for the study of the environment.

Wellesley is a highly selective liberal arts college for women, dedicated
to building a diverse and inclusive academic community. We strongly
encourage applications from candidates who can demonstrate through their
teaching, research, and service that they can contribute to this goal.
Familiarity with, and experience using, pedagogical methods that enable
students across all racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach
their maximum potential will be considered a valuable additional
qualification. Wellesley College is located twelve miles west of Boston in
Wellesley, Massachusetts.
