Hi All (with apologies for cross-posting)
We invite you to submit an abstract to the session T9. Battery and Energy
Metals: Mineral Potential of the Southwestern USA during the 2022 GSA
Cordilleran and Rocky Mountain Joint Section Meeting. This meeting will be
held on 15–17 March 2022 at the UNLV campus in central Las Vegas, Nevada,
USA. Further details of the meeting can be found here:
https://www.geosociety.org/GSA/Events/Section_Meetings/GSA/Sections/cd/2022mtg/home.aspx
This session focuses on the battery and energy mineral and metal potential
of the southwestern USA. The global minerals industry is currently seeing
the effects of a rapid increase in demand for the raw materials required to
implement emergent low- and zero-CO2 solutions for energy and
transportation needs. We encourage submissions focused on the economic
potential of the southwestern U.S. as a source for these key and often
critical commodities, including research focused on primary mineral deposit
genesis and exploration, the potential for battery and energy mineral and
metal extraction from secondary sources such as mine and processing waste,
and other associated topics. We also strongly encourage submissions from
early-career scientists, including undergraduate and graduate students.
The abstract submission deadline is 7th December 2021, at 11:59 p.m.
Pacific Time, and abstracts should be submitted at the following link:
https://gsa.confex.com/gsa/2022CD/top/papers/index.cgi?sessionid=52255
Hope to see you in Las Vegas!
Session chairs Simon Jowitt and Brian McNulty
