Hello, everyone,

I was thinking I was dropped from the MSA-talk list because I heard nothing about this.

George got me started on infrared spectroscopy, teaching me how to use his spectrometer personally.

Yes, it is a very sad day. George George (as we were two Georges, I was labeled George and GRR as George George) and I conferred a lot and traveled to Myanmar together in 2002 to visit the fabled jade mines.  In addition to a memorable trip, we were able to collect samples from their sources, not what a dealer would tell us.  Just flash our Kyat and the collectors came running.  We brought back true lavender jade and the first gemmy painite from Namya, across the Sagaing fault from the main locality in Mogok.  His enthusiasm and expertise will be missed.
