The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is hiring! We are looking to fill a Research Associate position with a talented candidate who will operate our LA-ICP-MS in our New York lab and assist with other instruments involving analytical chemistry or spectroscopy.

This position will involve maintenance and day-to-day operation of the LA-ICP-MS in a production laboratory setting. The position will also involve research on projects related to gemstone identification, treatment detection, geographic origin, and analytical chemistry method development in coordination with GIA's research team. The ideal candidate should have an MSc (or equivalent) including hands-on experience with LA-ICP-MS or other microanalytical / mass spectrometry techniques. They should also show good attention to detail and have an interest in (geo)chemistry, mineralogy, crystallography, gemology, etc.
