Dear Colleagues,
AIPEA Council has recently worked to update its statutes and by-laws, and it is necessary to receive approval from members to enact these changes. The proposed modifications are aimed at:
- maintaining a core of rules in the Statutes while moving most of what is susceptible to future modification to By-laws. This is because AIPEA is a legally registered society in Spain, and changing Statutes is legally and procedurally more complicated than changing By-laws, so this is motivated by a desire to make it easier for future AIPEA Councils to do their business;
- including in the Statutes and By-laws the merging of ICC and Euroclay as a series of biennial CLAY meetings;
- moving most of the issues relative to CLAY conference guidelines to the By-laws (see above) and Guidelines;
- updating AIPEA membership to include individual members of national clay groups (NCGs);
- listing AIPEA committees (Nomenclature, ECCS, ACAC, Teaching, and Hazardous materials) in the By-laws.
This has required a major rewriting of both Statutes and By-laws (see attached versions of the modified text both with changes tracked and with changes accepted). These changes have been approved by AIPEA Council. To come into force these modifications now need to be approved by AIPEA members which is the objective of the present ballot.
All votes should be cast by July 4, 24:00 (UTC +2) for either:
Yes. I approve the modifications proposed by AIPEA Council to its Statutes and By-laws
OR
No. I reject the modifications proposed by AIPEA Council to its Statutes and By-laws
