The Department of Geosciences https://www.unifr.ch/geo/en/ at the University of Fribourg (https://www.unifr.ch/geo/en/) is seeking a lecturer and researcher in the field of mineralogy and petrologyhttps://www.unifr.ch/geo/mineralogy/en/. Potential research fields include mineral resources, magmatic petrology, applied mineralogy, and/or environmental mineralogy. Candidates should have acquired a PhD degree in Earth Sciences and should have a strong research profile, ideally at least three years of postdoctoral experience.
The candidate will have to take on vital lab responsibilities at the Department of Geosciences such as the supervision of XRF, XRD, or SEM and will have to teach in the broad domains of mineralogy and petrology at the BSc and MSc level. The candidate should be able to teach BSc courses in one of the two official languages of the University, French or German, and MSc courses in English.
The position is available at 80-100% at the level of a research assistant (fr: maître-assistant-e; de: Oberassistent*in) for five years starting 1st of August 2026.
