MSA 2020 Election Results
MSA is pleased to announce the results of the 2020 election for 2021 Officers and Councilors:
President: Mark Ghiorso, OFM Research Inc.
Vice-President: Pamela Burnley, University of Nevada-Las Vegas
Treasurer: Glenn Gaetani, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
Councilor I: Robert Bodnar, Virginia Polytechnic Institute
Councilor II: Jennifer Jackson, California Institute of Technology

Congratulations to the new MSA Officers and Councilors and many thanks to all of those MSA members who ran for Council this year. The 2021 Council positions will take effect on October 24, 2020 after the Third 2020 MSA Council Meeting, which will be held virtually this year via Zoom.

Upcoming Meetings and Events

Minerals Day: MSA is collaborating with the American Geosciences Institute and other scientific societies to celebrate Minerals Day on October 12, 2020, the second day of Earth Science Week. The theme for Earth Science Week this year is Earth Materials in Our Lives. More information about Minerals Day will be available shortly via the MSA website and social media outlets.

MSA Annual Meeting: Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 3:00 PM Eastern via Zoom. Information on how to register for the meeting will be in the October MSA-Announce.

GSA 2020 Connects Online:  The Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America will be held virtually from October 26 – 30, 2020 with many MSA-sponsored sessions. Registrationhttps://community.geosociety.org/gsa2020/registration is now open and the Early Registration Deadline is September 21, 2020.

America’s Geoheritage II Webinar Series: The U.S. National Committee for Geosciences (IUGS) is presenting a distinguished speaker webinar serieshttps://www.nationalacademies.org/our-work/americas-geoheritage-ii-a-workshop throughout the fall.  Anyone interested in geoheritage may register and attend.
