Dear Colleagues,
Join us at AGU in session V025, The Metamorphic Kitchen Sink.
Invited Speakers:
Kayleigh Harvey (Boston College)
Jesse Walters (Goethe University Frankfurt)
Session description: The tools of modern metamorphic petrology and
geochemistry have broadened considerably with developments in analytical
geochemistry and computing. It is now quite common to apply multiple types
of tools to a single rock in order to unravel its metamorphic history. We
invite you to share how you have used the “metamorphic kitchen sink” to
address the fundamental processes that drive metamorphism. We are
particularly interested in submissions that apply one or more of the
following tools: field observations; petrography; experimental petrology;
rheology/EBSD; geochronology; major, trace element, and isotope
geochemistry; numerical modeling; and others. We hope to bring the
metamorphic community together to really tie microns to mountains and space
to time. We also welcome submissions for discussion topics and potential
panel discussions, particularly those that might lead to the submission of
proposals for broader-scale community collaboration (e.g., Research
Coordination Networks (RCNs), NSF Research Traineeships (NRTs)) to tackle
the next generation of critical questions in metamorphism.
