Dear MSA-Talk Members,
The organizers of the Second Annual Mineralogical Society of America Meeting are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to participate in the Breakfast with a Mineralogist event at the 2027 Tucson Gem & Mineral Show® on Sunday, February 14.
Breakfast with a Mineralogist will take place during the final day of the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show® at the Tucson Convention Center. As a reminder, MSA meeting registration includes admission to the show on that day.
This informal outreach event gives attendees an opportunity to visit mineral-themed tables, examine specimens, participate in educational demonstrations, and learn from mineralogists and geoscientists. Past topics have included color in minerals, crystallography, symmetry, and tables dedicated to specific minerals (e.g., garnet).
This is a wonderful opportunity to share your mineralogical expertise with the public. Volunteers are asked to plan a table-based activity or exhibit on a mineralogical topic of their choice. We welcome participants from all career stages and areas of mineralogical expertise, with the goal of making mineralogy accessible and engaging for a general audience.
Volunteers interested in participating, or those seeking additional information, should contact Kyle Dayton at kyle.dayton@whoi.edumailto:kyle.dayton@whoi.edu
Best,
Kyle Dayton
