Hi Everyone,
If you’re interested in a potentially repairable SEM, please see this link: https://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/auction/view?auc=4020701
Surplus Tescan Scanning Electron Microscope with EDAX system
We have a ca. 2004 Tescan brand Scanning Electron Microscope that will go on our university’s surplus bidding site soon. It was recently working until an apparent high voltage board problem. EDAX system was fully working as well.
Model number is VEGA TS 51365B, and the EDS system is an Ametek EDAX. It has a manual stage that works well, and comes with extra filaments.
The item is ideal either for parts or for repair if the High Voltage board can be fixed. All parts are present, but computers may need to be reinstalled (Windows XP), but the software is present.
It is currently located in its own room and is under vacuum but will have to be moved soon. The SEM system includes the instrument, plus an attached desk/circuitry, which will have to be disassembled. The disassembly is straightforward, but the main SEM instrument may need special equipment/skates to lift or move the instrument (it’s very heavy and does not have wheels).
