Dear All,

Apology for bulk posting. We are organizing the following session in the
25th Goldschmidt Conference 2015 at Prague (August 16-21) under the Theme
12 (Mineral resources in an evolving Earth)
. Please consider to submit
your abstract and feel free to attend the session. Abstract submission is
open now and you can submit your abstract using following link of the
Goldschmidt 2015 conference website:

Title of the Session 12b (under SGA & IAGOD-CODMUR):* Processes and
Deposits of Ultramafic-Mafic Magmas Through Space and Time
http://goldschmidt.info/2015/program/programViewThemes#session12b*

Details of the Session 12b: Production and use of magmatic ores such as
Ni-Cu sulfides, platinum-group elements (PGEs), chromite and Ti-V-bearing
magnetite is one of the most dynamic and effective branches of world
economy. Magmatic ore deposits are formed from ultramafic-mafic magmas due
to high temperature crystallization processes and directly linked to the
evolution of the parental magmas through space and time. The ore forming
processes under magmatic system have two end members: (i) concentration of
ore minerals as a direct consequence of magmatic crystallization dominated
by silicate melt-crystal equilibria and (ii) (magmatic) hydrothermal
processes where concentration of ore minerals are from magmatic
hydrothermal fluids by crystallization dominated by crystal-volatile
equilibria. This particular session will seek to understand the fundamental
processes which control the formation of the deposits of the
ultramafic-mafic magmas covering chromite, PGE, Ni-sulfides, Ti-V-bearing
magnetite through space and time. In addition, this session will contribute
in understanding the recent development in the fields of magmatic ore
deposits as a whole.

Keynote &

  • Invited talk: Shoji Arai (Kanazawa University, Japan), James Brenan
(University of Toronto, Canada), Suzanne Y. O'Reilly (Macquarie University,
Australia), Rais Latypov (University of Witwatersrand, South Africa),
Richard Ernst (LIP, Canada), Adam Simon (University of Michigan, USA), and
    Christian Tegner (Aarhus University, Denmark).*
