Dear all,
The UCLA SIMS laboratory will host a 5-day student workshop on ion
microprobe applications in the Earth and planetary sciences February 25 -
March 1, 2019. Participants will learn about the capabilities of SIMS for
geochronology, stable isotope analysis, and other applications. The
curriculum will include instruction on the theory and applications of SIMS
as well as breakout sessions and practical demonstrations of various types
of SIMS analyses using the two large-radius magnetic sector ion probes at
UCLA.
Arrival and departure dates are Sunday, February 24 and Friday, March 1,
respectively, and NSF's Instrumentation and Facilities program will cover
the travel and lodging expenses of participants based in the US. Graduate
students and advanced undergraduates (the latter with an advisor's letter
of recommendation) can apply using the form on the UCLA SIMS website:
http://sims.ess.ucla.edu. The application deadline is January 3, 2018.
Please contact Elizabeth Bell (ebell21@ucla.edu) with any questions.
Best regards,
Elizabeth Bell
