Nathan Renfro earned his Graduate Gemologist diploma from GIA Carlsbad, where he now works as the Manager of Identification (Colored Stones). His main areas of interest are inclusion identification, photomicrography, lapidary arts and defect chemistry of corundum.
Dr. Chunhui Zhou is the senior manager of pearl identification at GIA New York. His main area of interest is the identification and research of pearls and related materials.
Stuart Overlin is managing editor of Gems & Gemology and joined the journal in 1997. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and has a master’s in writing and publishing from DePaul University.
