Dear All,

You are invited to an SZ4D Pre-AGU workshop to help shape the future of research in the Alaska-Aleutian Arc, one of the most dynamic and hazardous volcanic regions in the USA. The "Research Prioritization in the Alaska-Aleutian Arc" workshop, fully sponsored by SZ4D (www.sz4d.org http://www.sz4d.org/), aims to build on recent community momentum and contribute to high-priority science goals on volcano studies.

This half-day workshop will focus on advancing the research priorities identified at a well-attended NSF-sponsored community workshop in May 2025. We will review the current state of knowledge, disseminate key findings from working groups, and expand collaboration on critical science themes that align with the SZ4D Implementation Plan https://www.sz4d.org/implementation-plan. The goal is to integrate diverse expertise and foster new collaborations to tackle the most pressing questions on active volcanoes and volcanic eruptions along the Alaska-Aleutian Arc. The workshop will feature short reports from existing working groups, followed by lightning talks from the participants and focused breakout sessions where all participants can contribute their ideas and expertise. See this website for more details about the workshop: https://www.sz4d.org/events/agu-mini-workshop-alaska-aleutian-arc.

Date & Time: Sunday, December 14, 2025 | 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM (Local Time)
Venue: Tulane River and Coastal Center, one block from the New Orleans Convention Center

To encourage dynamic discussion, we will host a session for lightning talks by the participants. If you have a nascent idea, related research results, a specific dataset, or a skill set relevant to the Alaska-Aleutian Arc that you'd like to share to spark collaborations, please indicate your interest in giving a lightning talk in the workshop registration form. We aim to foster collaboration with new scientists.
