Upcoming 2-year post-doc position, REE partitioning among high-T minerals

Hi,

This is just a quick note (not an official advertisement – that will follow later) that I’ll be looking for a post-doc to work on a 2-year, NSF-funded project investigating REE partitioning among garnet, clinopyroxene, and (if all goes well) other high-temperature minerals. The start date is flexible, but likely around Jan 1. The goal is to calibrate thermodynamically valid REE thermobarometers, applicable across both igneous and metamorphic systems, based on experimental and empirical measurements.

I’m sending out this preliminary note now because I’ll be at the Goldschmidt meeting in Montreal from Monday through Thursday (July 13-17). So, if you’re at the meeting and want to talk to me about this project, please contact me offline, and we can figure out a day/time to discuss this.

Feel free to pass this message along to anyone who might be interested, especially Goldschmidt attendees.

A formal job ad with clearer conditions and an application process will follow later this summer.

Thanks and all the best,

Matt

Note: While I may send email outside of regular business hours, I do not expect the same from others.
