Do you want a more personal, in-depth connection with some of the most fascinating people in the mineral world? Tune in on the first Wednesday of each month and listen to our LIVE interview series where we sit down with guests from all over the world and talk rocks. Collectors, Curators, Curatrixes, Artists, Researchers, Publishers, Dealers and more. We get into their origin stories and get updated on some of the things they're working on now. Chris Emproto is a postdoctoral fellow in Minerals and Earth Scienceshttps://carnegiemnh.org/research/minerals/ at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and the Educational Committee chair for the Young Mineral Collectorshttps://youngmineralcollectors.org/. Chris’ research broadly focuses on the chemistry and structure of minerals and how these aspects can inform us about their formation. His research has paid special attention to the intersection of minerals and low-carbon energy sources with studies on nuclear waste storage, lithium deposit geology, and metal transport in iron and copper deposits. He has also been involved in the descriptions of nearly twenty new minerals. As someone with strong roots in both academia and the mineral collecting community, Chris finds purpose in making the science of mineralogy accessible to everyone.
