Dear colleagues,
We encourage you to submit an abstract to the following Fall AGU session:
V010: From microns to mountains: metamorphic records of heat and mass
transfer
Metamorphic rocks preserve a record of the fundamental processes of heat
and mass transfer associated with their burial and transformation in all
tectonic environments. While these processes occur on the scale of mountain
belts, the record is preserved on the micron scale in metamorphic textures
and mineral compositions. In this session we invite contributions from
studies of natural rocks, experiments, and modeling that constrain key
processes associated with metamorphism. We welcome studies that use a
variety of approaches, including field observation, petrography,
experimental petrology, geo/petrochronology, geochemistry, and petrologic
modelling.
Invited speakers:
Jay Ague, Yale University
Simon Schorn, Universität Mainz
AGU is being held in Washington, DC this year from Dec. 9-13. We think it
will be a great session and an exciting meeting. We hope you are interested
in joining us. The abstract deadline is tomorrow, July 31! Please visit the
AGU website: https://agu.confex.com/agu/agu24/prelim.cgi/Session/230211 to
submit your abstract.
We hope to see you in DC this winter!
Best wishes from the session conveners,
Adrian Castro, Wellesley College
Sarah Penniston-Dorland, University of Maryland
Andy Smye, Pennsylvania State University
