Dear Colleagues:
We kindly invite you to submit contributions to the session on "The Mineralogy of Critical Minerals" at the 24th General Meeting of the International Mineralogical Association (IMA) being held in Nanjing, China from August 21-24, 2026.
We welcome contributions that describe the physical, crystallographic and thermodynamic processes that lead to the formation of minerals that host critical minerals (elements), as well as processes required to extract and refine critical minerals. Topics of interest, but not limited to, include partitioning of various elements between melts, fluids and minerals; crystallographic constraints on elemental substitution in minerals; the various chemical and physical conditions and processes that control critical mineral chemistry, and modern analytical techniques applied to critical minerals characterization.
Our keynote speaker is Bob Hazen (Carnegie Science).
Abstracts for IMA 2026 are due April 15, 2026.

We look forward to seeing you in Nanjing!
